Built-Up Roof Membrane

It's All About the Layers!

You know that dressing in layers is one of the best ways to protect yourself from cold weather. But did you know that layers are one of the best ways to protect your building too?

A time-tested approach in use for over 120 years, a Built-Up Roof (BUR) Membrane, as its name suggests, is constructed with multiple layers, or plies, of roofing felt, each held in place with a bituminous material, either asphalt or coal tar pitch. This roofing technique offers good flexibility, since the number of plies installed can be varied to meet different durability requirements or to control costs. BUR is one of the oldest low-slope roof systems that are still applied to commercial roofs today.

The multiple plies make built-up membrane roofs highly durable and resistant to damage from foot traffic or abuse, giving them some advantages over newer,
single-ply methods.

Our Heidler Roofing experts will work with you to determine whether a Built-Up Roof Membrane is right for your facility, and to design a customized solution to meet your requirements and budget.
