Thermoset Roofing Membrane

Thermoset (EPDM) Roof Membrane

A Popular Choice Offering Easier Installation
and Repair

Thermoset Roof Membranes use a single ply of a rubber material, which, most frequently, is Ethyline Propolyne Diene Terpolymer (EPDM). EPDM systems were introduced during the early 1960s and came into very widespread use for commercial buildings by the 1980s.

Advantages of EPDM systems include:

  • Strong resistance to ozone and ultraviolet light
  • Good flexibility in low temperatures
  • Ease of repair to extend service life and defer replacement costs

EPDM systems have good resistance to some acids, solvents, and alcohol but should be avoided when exposure is likely to petroleum products, animal fats, or vegetable oils.

There are multiple color coatings available through the membrane manufacturer. In addition to enhancing aesthetic appeal, these coatings are also reflective, reducing cooling costs.
