Project Description/Scope of Work: The church is situated in a lovely farm valley and experiences high winds throughout the year. In late January, a strong wind dislodged 2 of the 8 sections of copper on the existing steeple exposing the wood framing to the weather. A local contractor resecured the loose areas with face fasteners and applied membrane to temporarily protect the structure. They could not replace in like kind, so the church reached out to various contacts and after some searching found us. We met to discuss their needs and determined a similar style 16 oz. copper roofing system would be the best system with enhancements to the edge detail to prevent wind uplift. Even though the original rolled edge with face driven nails lasted 100 years. Work from a 135-foot man lift began in May and was completed in June due to the wet conditions. Kevin was lead foreman and Cade/Terry were assistant craftsmen. All three have copper experience and the final project included a soffit system to eliminate painting and epoxy coating at the floor to prolong the useable life of the existing lead coated copper roof.
