Experienced Sheet Metal Foremen

Heidler Roofing Services, Inc. has "Immediate Job Openings" for Experienced Sheet Metal Foremen at our Hagerstown, MD location.

Requirements:
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience as a Foreman or Lead Man
  • Ability to lead and manage a roofing crew as a hands on Foreman
  • Willingness to learn and teach the Heidler Roofing Services, Inc. techniques
  • Excellent written, communication and organizational skills
  • Must comply with all company and OSHA regulations
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • A valid Driver's License
  • Successfully complete a pre-employment physical and drug screen
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Properly cut metal

Shingle Foreman

Roofer - Commercial

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Tear-off roofing materials.
  • Transport old and new roofing materials by means of motorized and non-motorized equipment.
  • Install pressure treated wood blocking where required.
  • Install roofing insulation and mechanically attach to roof deck.
  • Install applicable roof system, i.e.... cold process built-up roof, hot applied built-up roof, single ply EPDM, PVC, TPO, metal.
  • Install roofing details/accessories at curbs, penetrations, edges, and/or walls.
  • Apply roof-surfacing such as paint, gravel or ballast.

  • Installs composition shingle, slate or wood shake roofing, working primarily on sloped roof surfaces.
  • Cuts roofing paper to size, using knife, and nails or staples it to roof in overlapping strips to form base for roofing materials.
  • Aligns roofing materials with edge of roof and overlaps successive layers.
  • Gauges distance of overlap with chalkline, gauge on shingling hatchet, or by lines on shingles.
  • Fastens composition shingles or sheets to roof with asphalt, cement or nails.
  • Punches holes in slate, tile, terra cotta or wooden shingles, using punch and hammer.
  • Cuts strips of flashing and fits them into angles formed by walls, vents and intersecting roof surfaces.
  • Works from ladders, jacks and planks and/or scaffolding at heights for extended periods of time.

Experience in the roofing industry is a plus, however we will train an individual who is self-motivated and has strong communication skills.


Primary Responsibilities:
  • Respond to requests for roofing proposal.
  • Meet with potential customer to assess roof and make recommendations.
  • Provide detailed proposal outlining scope of work to customer.
  • Follow-up and maintain contact on completed proposals.
  • Attend and participate in weekly production meetings.
  • Consider all safety requirements/policies when estimating and seek input from the Corporate Safety Manager on project safety for complex projects.

Commercial Roofing Estimator

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Review all assigned estimates for the scope of work, assign priorities to allotted estimates, inform the Lead Estimator of any estimates that he/she is unable to bid, allowing adequate time for reassignment.
  • Complete accurate estimates in an efficient manor, allowing adequate time for the checker to review the project.
  • Consider all safety requirements/policies when estimating and seek the Safety Managers input on project safety for complex projects.
  • Follow up on the status of completed estimates. Forward estimate status to the Lead Estimator as received.
  • Attend and participate in all weekly Estimating Meetings.
  • Perform contract negotiations and provide all contract documents to the Vice President for Approval.
