Experienced Sheet Metal Foremen

Heidler Roofing Services, Inc. has "Immediate Job Openings" for Experienced Sheet Metal Foremen at our Hagerstown, MD location.

  • Minimum of 5 years' experience as a Foreman or Lead Man
  • Ability to lead and manage a roofing crew as a hands on Foreman
  • Willingness to learn and teach the Heidler Roofing Services, Inc. techniques
  • Excellent written, communication and organizational skills
  • Must comply with all company and OSHA regulations
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • A valid Driver's License
  • Successfully complete a pre-employment physical and drug screen
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Properly cut metal
  • Install basic metal details, gravel stops, copings and flashing
  • Be able to install pitch pockets and vent pipe flanges
  • Install metal roofing seams
  • Be able to solder
  • Safely and efficiently operate tools and machines

Shingle Foreman

Heidler Roofing Services, Inc. is currently looking for an experienced Shingle Foreman for the Specialty Division at our York, PA location.

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience as a Foreman or Lead Man in residential asphalt shingle installation
  • Experience with EPDM, slate, metal, tile, cedar and gutter installation a plus
  • Extensive knowledge and ability to install all detail work associated with proper shingle installation
  • Ability to lead and manage a roofing crew as a hands on Foreman

Roofer - Commercial

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Tear-off roofing materials.
  • Transport old and new roofing materials by means of motorized and non-motorized equipment.
  • Install pressure treated wood blocking where required.
  • Install roofing insulation and mechanically attach to roof deck.
  • Install applicable roof system, i.e.... cold process built-up roof, hot applied built-up roof, single ply EPDM, PVC, TPO, metal.
  • Install roofing details/accessories at curbs, penetrations, edges, and/or walls.
  • Apply roof-surfacing such as paint, gravel or ballast.
  • Follow all HRS and HRS customer safety policy and procedures.
  • Immediately report all unsafe conditions to supervisor or safety manager.

Roofer - Specialty/Residential

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Installs composition shingle, slate or wood shake roofing, working primarily on sloped roof surfaces.
  • Cuts roofing paper to size, using knife, and nails or staples it to roof in overlapping strips to form base for roofing materials.
  • Aligns roofing materials with edge of roof and overlaps successive layers.
  • Gauges distance of overlap with chalkline, gauge on shingling hatchet, or by lines on shingles.
  • Fastens composition shingles or sheets to roof with asphalt, cement or nails.
  • Punches holes in slate, tile, terra cotta or wooden shingles, using punch and hammer.
  • Cuts strips of flashing and fits them into angles formed by walls, vents and intersecting roof surfaces.
  • Works from ladders, jacks and planks and/or scaffolding at heights for extended periods of time.
  • Follow all HRS and HRS customer safety policy and procedures.
  • Immediately report all unsafe conditions to supervisor or safety manager.
  • Responsible for reporting unsafe behavior of other employees.
  • Performs laborer duties incidental to installation, as required.

  • Supervise and train employees in daily operations of the roofing work to ensure quality workmanship.
  • Communicate with superintendent daily concerning the roofing project.

  • Ensure excellent customer service.
  • Accurate completion of required daily paperwork.
  • Plan, coordinate and prepare for the work day by securing the materials and equipment for that day’s work.
  • Maintain and perform basic repairs on equipment and tools.
  • Follow all OSHA, HRS and customer safety standards (OSHA 30 preferred but not required).

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Respond to requests for roofing proposals
  • Meet with potential customers to assess their roof and make recommendations
  • Provide detailed proposal outlining scope of work to customer
  • Follow-up and maintain contact on completed proposals
  • Communicate with customer, superintendent and field employees throughout the entire job
  • Attend and participate in weekly production meetings
  • Consider all safety requirements/policies when estimating and seek input from the Corporate Safety Manager on project safety for complex projects
